Support
From information gathered at baselining plus the DESC Information Gathering Form (DIG) to assimilate information from school we identify the appropriate intervention based on gaps identified and contextual need.
Teaching Assistants are valued members of our team. The use of a Teaching Assistant is planned for by the teacher/deliverer to gain the most effective teaching and learning in the classroom.
The Teaching Assistant can:
- Proactively support teachers/deliverers with their lessons
- Proactively support learners within their lessons
- Lead interventions when required
- Deliver the work in the short term absence of the teacher/deliverer as they are the consistent person for the learner
Therapeutic Support
Supporting both the learner and their family we are able to offer swift and appropriate access to a range of therapeutic interventions.
This might be:
- Counselling
- Parental Counselling
- CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy)
- Drawing and Talking
- Mindfulness
- Access to our Therapeutic Support Worker
- Access to our Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs)
Support Dogs
We have three support dogs who are very much an integral part of our learning support.
Marley (Border Collie) is used predominately in KS3. Marley is also used during outdoor learning to encourage participation, promote engagement outdoors and to teach key skills.
Hazel (Rhodesian Ridgeback) is 3 years old. She has completed training to Kennel Club silver level with Therapy Dogs Training.
She mostly likes to chill-out on her bed but enjoys a run around in the fields and catching treats mid-air. She really enjoys being groomed.
She is owned by Clare Winter, Deputy Head.
George (Black Labrador) is used to encourage the KS1-2 learners to read, by increasing their confidence.
